My name is Claire Flegler, and I am the founder of Cutting Chaos and James the Collective in Far North Queensland, Australia.
From a young age, I was drawn to the world of hairdressing, as evidenced by my preschool drawing that read, “When I grow up, I want to be a hairdresser like my aunty Louise.” After 11 years in the industry, I took the leap and purchased my salon 5 years ago, marking both my greatest achievement and my most significant learning curve to date.
While I’ve always cherished the connection with my clients, I became aware of my own burnout and decided to make changes — to live more aligned, stay grounded and reconnect with myself, all while keeping my love for my career and the industry alive. I soon realised I wasn’t alone and I craved a deeper connection with fellow professionals who were feeling the same.
That’s where Cutting Chaos was born. A space for every hair and beauty professional — no hierarchy, no pressure — just real humans being seen, supported, and valued. Through events, retreats and meaningful conversations, we come together to uplift one another, honour our wins and navigate the challenges of our industry with grounded strength.
My mission is to create an empowering community where we grow together, share our stories and build a more connected, aligned future for our industry — the kind of space everyone wishes existed.
